SignFree is built for solo entrepreneurs, freelancers, and small teams who need honest, practical e-signatures. This page explains how we stay free, what we charge for, where we draw the line, and the legal frameworks our signatures support.

1. How We Make Money

Our core product is free because a small “Powered by SignFree” badge appears on free signing surfaces. Free users spread the word, which keeps the base product free for everyone.

We make money from Pro, which is only for features that cost more to run or that teams need:

SMS OTP verification
Unlimited team members
Priority email support

We do not sell your documents, personal data, or contact lists. We do not charge per document. We do not trick free users into paid upgrades with artificial limits.

2. What Stays Free

The following are free forever for solo use, with no credit card and no trial countdown:

Unlimited signatures and documents.
Quick Send, reusable templates, and Magic Links.
Multi-signer workflows and email OTP verification.
Full audit trail and tamper-evident Integrity Seal.
Signer Portal access for recipients.
Secure cloud storage for signed documents.

Free is intended for honest, regular business use. If we detect abuse, fraud, or activity that is not legitimate use, we may suspend the account without prior notice.

3. What SignFree Is Not

We are honest about our limits:

Not a Qualified Trust Service Provider (QTSP). We do not provide QES, AdES/AES, or government-identity-verified digital signatures.
Not a Certification Authority (CA). Our Integrity Seal is self-signed and tamper-evident; it detects post-execution changes but is not CA-backed.
Not a notarization or legal-advice provider. We do not witness signatures or tell you whether a specific document is legally sufficient in your jurisdiction.
Not certified SOC 2 or ISO 27001. We follow security best practices, but we do not currently hold those certifications.

4. Compliance Overview

SignFree provides Simple Electronic Signatures (SES) with email or SMS OTP, an audit trail, and a tamper-evident Integrity Seal on completed PDFs. SES is designed to support technology-neutral e-signature laws for many commercial contracts.

Always confirm with counsel if your document or jurisdiction requires a higher-assurance signature type.

5. Subprocessors and customer DPA

This section is SignFree’s customer data-processing terms for envelope content (GDPR Article 28). It also lists the processors we use. For how we process account, billing and website data as a controller, see the Privacy Policy.

Roles

Processor: When you upload documents and collect signatures, SignFree processes that envelope content and the signer data needed to complete the envelope on your documented instructions (the SignFree service and these Terms).
Controller: SignFree is the controller for user accounts, billing, and site analytics.

Subprocessors

You authorise SignFree to use the following subprocessors. Some process data outside the EEA; we rely on adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses as described in the Privacy Policy.

Processing terms

We process envelope content only to provide the SignFree service, including sending signing invitations, recording the audit trail, and applying the Integrity Seal when used.
Personnel and subprocessors who may access personal data are bound by confidentiality.
We apply appropriate technical and organisational security measures for the nature of the service.
Data-subject requests may be sent to info@signfree.io. We will assist you where the request concerns envelope content we process for you.
If you delete your account or ask us to erase personal data, we erase account, billing and login leftovers that are not required as evidence. Completed signed documents and their audit trails are retained as a legal hold so the parties can later prove the transaction. We do not sell envelope content.

These terms apply in addition to the Terms and Conditions. Governing law is Belgian law; disputes follow Terms Article 11 (Brussels courts).

6. Transparency and Status

We publish operational status and incident history on our Status Page. Support requests are handled during working hours Central European Time (CET), Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 18:00.
