How to send a document for signature
Use Quick Send when you need someone else to sign. From Home, click Quick Send (or open app.signfree.io/home/quick-send).
Progress steps: Document → Recipients → Options → Send.
1. Choose your document
Step 1 of 3 — upload a file or reuse a template.
- Upload — PDF or Word, up to 10 MB (you can add more than one file).
- Template — Search and select an existing template instead of uploading again.
2. Add recipients
Start with one person, then add more if needed.
- Enter name and email.
- Set the role to Signer or CC (gets copy only).
- Use Add another recipient for more people.
- Optionally turn on Save this contact for next time.
- Need to sign too? Use Add me as signer.
- Respect signing order — Off: anyone can sign anytime. On: signers follow the numbered order (you sign last if you included yourself).
3. Choose how they sign and how you deliver
Signing method
- Define where they sign (default) — You place signature or text fields on the document, then continue to send.
- One-click acknowledge — Needs exactly one signer with an email. They review and confirm with an email or SMS code (SMS is Pro).
Delivery
- Email Delivery (default) — SignFree emails each signer. Requires signer emails.
- Share by Link — You copy and share the link yourself; the app does not email it.
- Reusable magic link — Anyone with the link can sign; recipients entered earlier are ignored. See Magic Links.
Optional security: Verify the user by email before they can open it (email OTP). Requires a signer email.
4. Place fields (if you chose “Define where they sign”)
Click Add Signatures, place placeholders on the PDF, assign them to a signer (or Anybody), then Continue to Send.
5. Review and send
Check the summary on Ready to send?, then click Send for signature.
Afterward you can copy links, Send Another Document, or return to Home / Documents.
Email send needs at least one Signer — or use Add me as signer if you are the only signer.
